For seasoned Christians:
Fasting is sometimes needed before approaching God through prayer. Forgiveness is needed to before asking and approaching worshipping God through words because your understanding at this level God is very holy and must be approached with a clearing of sin known or unknown in your life. Then prayer is approached first with thanking God because you understand God shall be praise before anything is asked or spoken. Then you wait with confidence.
